individuals
and organization at this year's annual training conference

We all need to know that we are valued.  One "way to go" or "great job" can
make
 someone's day!  It is not just a nice thing to do when we recognize someone or

an organization each year at the ORA Annual Training Conference.  It is an
effective
way to communicate our appreciation for the efforts and successes of those who
serve
or work in the field of rehabilitation.  Each year we are moved, sometimes to
tears
by the presentations given recognizing someone who has overcome incredible
odds,
 who has provided compassionate and professional service to individuals, or
whose
company has reached out and given those with disabilities the tools to be
self-sufficient.
 Such recognition is motivating and energizing.  It reinforces what each of our

members do on a daily basis as being meaningful work.  Therefore. . . .

ORA is soliciting nominees to recognize individuals or organizations who have:


* shown unusual initiative or creativity in the development and/or
administration
of a service program of demonstrated value for persons with disabilities
* shown extraordinary drive, determination, and resourcefulness in overcoming
barriers
to his/her independence due to a disability
* made a major contribution to the increase of knowledge in the field or
rehabilitation
or to the prevention of disability
* made a major contribution to the rehabilitation of persons with disabilities
in
an area not generally considered technical
* presented to the public the abilities of persons with disabilities, the
problems
encountered by persons with disabilities or the needs and concerns of this
population
* demonstrated leadership in improving rehabilitation services for people with
disabilities
through legislative action
* intensively hired and successfully incorporated employees with disabilities
into
the workforce
* exercised notable leadership in removing environmental and legal barriers and

in overcoming discrimination which keep persons with disabilities from living
normal
lives and enjoying the rights and benefits due every American citizen
* provided an outstanding record of service to persons with disabilities
* demonstrated years of faithful service and leadership to ORA through any
segment
or combination of segments of association activities or life

nominee meeting all the required criteria.  Decisions to present or not present

awards are made by the ORA Awards Committee and are final.
