Position Announcement

Alabama A & M University

Assistant/Associate Professor, tenure track/9 month position within a CORE
accredited master's level Rehabilitation Counseling program.
Responsibilities: teaching and advising students in graduate level courses
in vocational rehabilitation; preparing individuals to work with public and
private rehabilitation facilities. Qualifications: Earned doctoral degree
in rehabilitation counseling or related field, Certified Rehabilitation
Counselor CRC, experience teaching graduate students, knowledge of CORE
accreditation requirements, grant writing expertise, and licensure
desirable.

Submit cover letter, curriculum vita, three letters of reference and
transcripts to: Human Resources, Alabama A & M University, Room 113 Patton
Hall, 4900 Meridian, Normal  AL  35762.  Review of applications will begin
immediately and continue until the position is filled.

Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University (AAMU) is a research
intensive, historically black university located in Huntsville, Alabama.
AAMU, founded in 1875, is a fully accredited, coeducational, land grant
research institution with 300 full-time and 73 part-time faculty serving
over 5,700 enrolled students. Undergraduate degrees are offered in five
schools: 1) School of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, 2) School of
Arts and Sciences, 3) School of Business, 4) School of Education, and 5)
School of Engineering and Technology. The School of Graduate Studies awards
master's degrees in 63 areas. AAMU is the only 1890 land grant university
offering four Ph.D. degree programs.

The University's mission reflects the traditional land-grant institution by
combining the education, research, and service in professional, vocational,
and liberal arts fields. The University is committed to (1) excellence in
education and scholarly environment in which inquiring and discriminating
minds may be nourished; (2) the education of students for effective
participation in local, state, regional, national, and international
societies; (3) the search for new knowledge through research and its
applications; (4) the provision of a comprehensive outreach program
designed to meet the changing needs of the larger community; and (5)
programs necessary to adequately address the major needs or problems of
capable students who have experienced limited access to education. Alabama
A & M University, in cooperation with businesses, industrial and
governmental agencies, and other institutions, provides a laboratory where
theory is put into practice in a productive environment. AAMU is located in
Huntsville, Alabama, which is the fourth largest city in the state. It is
located in Madison County, a north central county that borders Tennessee.
Huntsville is mid-point between Birmingham and Nashville, approximately 100
miles from each location.
