Buprenorphine waiver training offered at three campus sites
On Oct. 15, the Heritage College will offer a free Buprenorphine waiver training at all three of its campus locations in Athens, Dublin and Cleveland. The training runs from 8 a.m. - 1 p.m. and will be presented by John A. Renner, Jr., M.D., and William Morrone, D.O. It will take place live at Athens in Irvine 194 and Grosvenor 204, and be shared by teleconference with MEB1-415 at Dublin, and SPS-110 at Cleveland. The first half of the training must be taken online and the second half in person. The online portion must be completed before the live course on Oct 15. Clinical faculty member honored by high school alma mater
Jared Sheets, M.D., medical director for the Holzer Health System's Athens, Ohio, location, and a clinical faculty member of the Heritage College, was one of four individuals set to receive the Meigs Alumni Association Distinguished Alumni and Service Award Sept. 23. Sheets is a 1989 alumnus of Meigs High School, and was valedictorian of his class, according to a story<http://mydailysentinel.com/news/8718/meigs-to-honor-distinguished-alumni-service-award-recipient> in the Pomeroy Daily Sentinel.

A teaching tidbit from Faculty Development
"The One Minute Preceptor<https://ohio.box.com/s/dxnxmtxrz0q9h9oi4xwrfqsbv4co7ung>" comprises five "micro-skills" for one-on-one teaching - precepting.
Developed to help the busy preceptor integrate teaching into his or her day, this tool/technique is easy to learn. It provides a ready roadmap for effective clinical teaching in the most succinct way, based on educational and human learning theory. This has been the Office of Faculty Development's most popular web hit for a number of years, and it's part of a wealth of training materials the office makes available for clinical faculty.

ORUP taking apps for medical education research funding
The deadline to submit a request for research funding from the Office of Rural and Underserved Programs (ORUP) Medical Education Research Fund this academic year is Jan. 13, 2017. All proposals should be emailed to Sharon Casapulla at casapull at ohio.edu<mailto:casapull at ohio.edu>. Faculty and administrative staff as well as RUSP students on all Heritage College campuses are eligible to submit proposals. Projects must further medical education research focused on primary care, or specialties of primary importance, in rural and/or urban underserved settings. AHLM, ACE/ACE-OPP cohorts filling for 2016-17
Congratulations to the 2016-17 cohorts of the Academy of Healthcare Leaders and Managers (AHLM), and the Academy of Clinical Educators (ACE) and ACE-Osteopathic Principles and Practices. Individuals have registered for ACE-OPP and have applied for AHLM.

The AHLM<https://www.ohio.edu/medicine/about/offices/academic-affairs/faculty-development/programs/ahlm.cfm> is a year-long fellowship certificate program, designed to help residency directors and medical education managers in Ohio strengthen their knowledge and skills, so they can be successful leaders of their programs and trainees.

The ACE/ACE-OPP<https://www.ohio.edu/medicine/about/offices/academic-affairs/faculty-development/programs/ace.cfm> are two-in-one programs designed to provide faculty (attendings) at clinical campuses with a chance to strengthen their clinical teaching, administration and research skills, and better appreciate underlying values in academic medicine.

Dates set for OMM skills course
The fourth annual OMM Skills Enhancement Course has been scheduled for all three Heritage College campuses:

*        Cleveland - Oct. 8

*        Dublin - Oct. 22

*        Athens - Nov. 5
