The Academy of Clinical Educators and the ACE-Osteopathic Principles and Practice are updated versions of the retired CAP program, and offer one-on-one mentoring while helping you build your educational and professional skills. The ACE-OPP has an added learning component focused on sharing effective osteopathic preceptoring strategies as well as offering review and practice of OMM techniques and treatment models. More information about the programs can be found online. The deadline to register is Sept. 15, and the program begins in October. Register here. Changes in Medicare reimbursement for OMT proposed National Government Services, a regional Medicare carrier in 10 northeastern states, has proposed changing the language related to reimbursements for Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment. According to the American Academy of Osteopathy, this could negatively affect patient treatments and outcomes. More information about the proposal can be found on the AAO's website, along with details for submitting letters if you'd like to comment on the proposed changes. Avoid improper billing for Dual Eligible individuals Recent newspaper headlines about improper Medicare billing by physicians have caused some confusion. The issue stems from prohibitions related to Dual Eligible Medicare and Medicaid individuals. OhioHealth offers free CME opportunity On Aug. 23, OhioHealth is sponsoring an evening conference to discuss the breast programs at OhioHealth and to identify patients who would benefit from referral and access to the genetic counseling program at OhioHealth O'Bleness Hospital. The free event is being held at the Ohio University Inn in Athens and is designed for physicians who treat cancer, primary care physicians, OB/GYNs, radiologists and other health care professionals.
