[Classclimate-users] Academic periods in Class Climate

Class Climate users,
I just entered an issue with OIT to modify the way that academic periods are identified when PeopleSoft exports course data to Class Climate. I need a way (as does E-Learning and some other college units) to easily identify courses that are shorter than a full semester, such as the 5-week-long online nursing courses that take place in our college during spring and fall semesters, and the Summer I, Summer II and Full Summer sessions that will take place this summer.

My suggestion to OIT was to identify a full-semester fall 2013 course, for example, as "Fall 2013," while one of the shortened courses would be "Fall 2013.1" "Fall 2013.2" "Fall 2013.3" etc., based on when a course ends during that semester. For summer, there would be "Summer 2013.1" for Summer Session I, "Summer 2013.2" for Summer Session II, and simply "Summer 2013" for Full Summer. The Registrar's Office could develop a key for these ".1, .2, .3" periods so we users of Class Climate could easily match the academic period with the batch of courses we are sending out at the time.

In CHSP, for example, I have to send out three batches of course evals during spring semester: one for the Jan. 14-Feb 16 period, one for Feb 18-March 23, and one for March 25-April 26. Right now, I have to manually fish out and label the courses for each of these periods. You can imagine the possibility for errors.

If anyone has a better, simpler method for identifying these shortened course periods, please respond to this email before Friday, March 29, so that Jay Beam will have your input. Otherwise I'd like OIT to move forward on this quickly. Thanks.
