 Nnamani was elected to the senate for Enugu East in 2003.He was appointed Chairman of the Committee on Federal Character &amp; Governmental Affairs and member of committees on Privatization, Federal Capital Territory and Appropriation &amp; Finance. He became president
 of the <a title="Senate of Nigeria" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Senate_of_Nigeria" target="_blank">
<span style="COLOR:windowtext;TEXT-DECORATION:none">Senate of Nigeria</span></a> from April 5, 2005 to 2007, taking this post after

 the tendency for leaders in Africa to manipulate the national constitutions to perpetuate themselves in power. Ken Nnamani as Senate President rebuffed pressure and corrupt inducements as a Senate President from the ruling party to put an end to former President
 Obasanjo’s plan to extend his tenure for a third term in office.<u></u><u></u></span></p>
