Dear ASU members,
I would like to use this opportunity to thank those who thought of me as a member who can have a great input into our association, and take forward the work which have been done by the current president Kingsley, and other former presidents including President Abobo. I would like to humbly give special hearfelt thanks to Emmanuelle Assy, the out-going ASU Vice President, for nominating me. I can tell you this, and there should be no questions about it, it feels so good to know it that there is one or two fellow African(s) who could entrust you in this highest position in our association. Thank you very much.
However, I would like to express my great faith to the two earlier nominated candidates. While knowing that I could vie for this position, and probably have a number of votes that would make me the triumphant, I feel that any of the other two candidates will fit in that position. No doubts that, moving the ASU forward is the goal, the target, for most of us, Africans and Africanists. Though we cannot all be leaders, yet we all play part in moving the ASU forward. While one holds the steering wheel, others may be tires, others the board and others the sight mirrors, just to move our association forward, and more importantly safely and peacefully.
Once again, thanks for the trust you bestowed upon me.
May the Almighty bless the ASU, may Him bless Africa

After carefull soul searching, I have the following to say:
Let it go down in history that when duty came calling, I did not take off
but availed myself.
I hereby humbly accept the nomination with gratitude.
Now the onus is on all of you to choose someone who can come close to if
not fit well in the larger than life shoes of Nana Kwadwo Antwi. God bless
you all as you make such a decision.

Dear ASU,
We are now opening nominations for incoming executive board members.
Positions include:
President
Vice President
General Secretary
Publicity Secretary
Social and Cultural Secretary
Academic and Research Secretary
Treasurer
We will have elections on Saturday April 6th at 5pm in the Friends of the
Library Room in Alden. All of those who have accepted their nomination
should prepare a brief presentation on why they would be good for that
position. At the meeting we will also have a brief financial report of
African Hero's Night.
The following week after elections will be African Cultural Week, we will
be sending out the posters soon.

Dear ASU,
Please be reminded that the conference on Women and Children's health in Africa is happening this weekend, March 29-March 30 as scheduled.
As members of the ASU family, it would be greatly appreciated if we could attend the conference in our numbers, especially as it has Africa as its focus.
We are also encouraged to register and volunteer to assist in making the conference a success. Please visit the link below for registration and further details.

Volunteers
The following schedules have been made for Saturday . You are welcome to pick a spot if you want to volunteer and communicate your intention to Prince, Nakia or Kingsley.

1. 1-2 people from about 2:00 - 4 pm on Friday at the Bricks in Irvine Hall (outside room 194) to help direct poster presentations to their display spots
2. 1-2 people from 2:45 pm - 4 pm on Friday at the Bricks in Irvine Hall to help with registration
3. Table/chair set up Saturday - I will need to check if we need help for this.
4. Breakdown on Saturday - 4 pm - 5 pm perhaps 1-2 people, but again I will need to check with facilities (they are required to move the display boards), but we may need help with tables and chairs.
Steve, Gillian & Bose, let me know if you have any other ideas.
