Friends/classmates,

I hope this message finds you in good health and spirit. If any of you (African studies/Cultural Alums/students) are in Nairobi this week let me know send me your number, its always great to see and connect with classmates...for coffee or tea.

~As I shared with Dr. Howard OU African studies students are around Africa working/making a difference and its my hope that we some how connect. I met one in Ghana and another friend in Rwanda so far (both doing great work, one working in a university on gender issues another working for peacekeeping center in Ghana).

~The hard work and encouragements of our OU African Studies/cultural studies professors is being put into practice and for those who are currently at OU I hope you are making a difference in Ohio.

~As much as I love/miss New England/Ohio I am enjoying being in the continent and pray I get to travel to as many countries as possible before I return home to Maine.

Best wishes,
Selam

V/r,

Selam Alemayo,

friends: on Monday we have a wonderful opportunity to interact with still another African hero. Dr. Marape Marape, from the Botswana-Baylor Center for Excellence for Children’s Health will speak at 2:00 pm in W115 Grover Center. He is director of research for what I view as just about the best clinic Ihave seen on the African continent. He had planned to be here for our conference on children’s health in March, but a passport thief disrupted those plans….
