[ASU] Asu-l Digest, Vol 34, Issue 1

Kiersten is right. It is difficult and sometimes confusing to arrive at a new campus and every face you look at looks strange to you and every paper you read does not make sense. Knowing others and more importantly knowing that there are people out there that can listen, support, guide, and lead you through your collage life is important. That is, networking is important and we need to support the initiative to network. I support the and I am willing to participate. I would advise ASU executives to use this as the opportunity to reach out (remember our last meeting).

Hello,

   My name is Kiersten Smith and I am the president of the Black Student
Communication Caucus. I am writing you this email in hopes that BSCC and
your organization as well as many others could collaborate to accomplish a
networking event this upcoming Fall quarter. Coming in as a freshmen we all
know that it was hard to adjust to to the new community and lifestyle as a
college student. One of our barriers was that we knew very little people.
Another barrier was that it was difficult for us to meet and introduce
ourselves to upperclassmen. On September 17, 2011 from 5-7PM we are hosting
(and hopefully you as well) a networking meet and greet with Ohio University
professors, staff, upperclassmen, and freshmen. This is a moment for the
freshmen to get to know some of the professors that may be teaching their
classes as well as a chance to meet us, the leaders of organization,
withoutt standing behind a organization table. Hopefully this event will
help the freshmen and us better communicate with each other. The meet and
greet will be located on the first floor of baker, on the outside terrace
near the billard area. (The location in case of weather is waiting on
confirmation.)  If you would like to help out with event or collab please
email me Back ASAP. If you don't want to colloborate on this event it will
be very appreciative if you would attend and announce this program to your
members. This is a great way to start off a new image of unity at Ohio
University.
