Colleagues

I trust you all had a great spring break.For some of us this is the last
quarter.you can guess how happy we are!

l am digressing...

As a lot of you may have heard by now,the Communication and Development
Programme in association with the Communication and Development Association with
the support of the Center for International Studies,Scripps College of
Communication are hosting a conference from 2-3 April 2010 in the Baker
University Center 

We expect participants from as many as 10 countries and several universities in
the US.In particular,l am inviting you to the two key note addresses we will
have one on Friday and another on Saturday as follows;

Friday 3-4pm (Walter Hall 145) Dr Sina Odugbemi,Head of Communication and
Governance Programme,World Bank

Dr Odugbemi -this high profile speech will focus attention on the work of the
World Bank in developing countries in particular in the area of communicating
democracy.This is very relevant for our community.

Saturday 3-4pm (Walter Hall 145) Dr Arvind Singhal,Samuel and Edna Martson
Endowed Professor at University of Texas @ El PAso.This is an internationally
renowned CommDev expert whose focus will be the growing field of 'positive
defiance'.You don't want to miss this..


On Friday night at 7.30pm (Multi Purpose Room) there will be a Welcome Reception
in which a couple of faculty will be honoured for their contribution towards the
programme.Marie Garlock a UNC-Chapel Hill performer will be a star attraction.A
donation of $5 is encouraged to attend this for those who aren't registered
conference participants.
