Greetings,

I am passing along a social event happening in the African American Community. It is Apollo Night. For those who are not familiar, it is essentially a talent show where contestants can be booed of the stage for performing poorly but will be praised for performing well. It is part comedy part talent show. Winning contestant will receive $200. They are accepting applications for talent if any of you want to dance, sing, recite poetry, play an instrument or do any other performance.  Come out to the event, and better yet....participate in it if you have a talent. Finally, as far as ASU is concerned, this might be a good time to reach out to the Black Community because they are allowing Student Organization advertisements. So I am not familiar with the talent and abilities in the group, however if a 30 second advertisement could be created on someone's camera, ASU could have a call for recruitment or advertise an upcoming event at the Apollo.

Greetings,

The National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE)will be hosting their annual
Apollo Night event on Friday, March 6th in the Baker Ballroom at 8pm. At
the end of the night, there will be a $200 cash prize to the winner.

NSBE is looking for more acts to be in this annual show. The DEADLINE to
turn in
applications is FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 26TH at 7:30pm. That is right before the
auditions
will take place in Baker University Center, Room 240. Everyone must attend
the audition and bring a copy of their music and slide show advertisement
that
they will be using.

The cost per application is only $5.

Student Organizations can promote their organization with a slide show, buy
a
5-minute commercial/advertisement, or do anything that is appropriate to
promote themselves for up to 5-minutes. On the application form, don't
forget
to write down what type of advertisement you will be doing.
